Energy Infrastructure
Including renewable energy generation projects, independent transmission line projects (including cross border interconnectors), and energy trading companies that facilitate the cross-border trade of electricity in South Africa and across Southern Africa

Transport Infrastructure
Encompasses investments in the logistics value chain along South Africa and Southern Africa's trade corridors, including toll roads, rail networks, border posts, seaports, and cold storage facilities that enhance regional food security by reducing post-harvest losses

Digital Infrastructure
Focuses on investments in data centers, telecommunication towers, and fibre optic networks, supporting the infrastructure needed for digital connectivity and technological advancement in both urban and rural areas, driving economic growth

Social Infrastructure
Involves investments in student accommodation, healthcare, education, as well as critical waste and water management projects that address essential infrastructure needs and improve quality of life. These projects aim to create sustainable solutions
Our Investment Fund
- OIG makes equity investments in projects via its private equity arm, Obsidian Infrastructure Partners (“OIP”). OIP has commenced the fundraising process for its inaugural fund, Obsidian Infrastructure Fund 1 (“OIF I”), with a target size of R1.75 billion (approximately $100 million)
- OIF I is structured as an en commandite partnership and will focus on equity, quasi-equity, and equity-related investments in both greenfield and brownfield projects across OIG’s core sectors: energy infrastructure, transport infrastructure, digital infrastructure, and social infrastructure
- OIF I is a 10-year closed-end fund, with the option to extend for an additional two years, and has a five-year investment period
- The fund seeks minority to significant minority equity positions in projects, accompanied by board representation, negative control rights, and other minority protections
Our Services Business
- OIG provides asset management services to projects through its services division, Obsidian Infrastructure Services (“OIS”)
- OIS will deliver select asset management services to projects during their operational phase, in collaboration with its strategic equity partners and/or alongside reputable third-party operations and maintenance contractors
